It's too late to mail in your ballots; see the top of our webpage for a list of ballot drop-off sites in Washington County.

As we head into the last weekend before Tuesday's election deadline, here's a reminder of endorsements from our newspaper and that of surrounding sister publications.

Thursday, Nov. 1, is the last day you can safely mail in your ballots to make the deadline. Starting Friday, ballots will have to be taken to drop boxes. See this story online for a link to all Washington County drop boxes.

The Times and the Washington County Times endorsed Kathryn Harrington to chair the Washington County Board of Commissioners. This is a well-run county. But challenges ranging from housing to transportation will require new and innovative thinking. Harrington proves she has the right combination of experience and openness to move Washington County in the right direction.

In Tualatin, the editorial board endorsed Frank Bubenik for mayor and incumbent Nancy Grimes for City Council. Bubenik, specifically, has the energy, the experience and the savvy to keep the city heading in the right direction.

The Times endorsed Jason Snider for Mayor of Tigard, along with John Goodhouse and Liz Newton for city council. Snider impressed us with his knowledge of the issues and solid, well-researched answers.

On statewide issues, the

paper urged "no" votes for:

• Measure 103, which prohibits taxes on groceries (this is an end-run by the sugar-sweetened beverage industry to get ahead of potential, future taxes);

• Measure 104, which affects state agency fees (and which could have a crippling effect

on a wide array of agencies

to do their job);

• Measure 105, which would roll back Oregon's

longstanding "sanctuary" rules (we side with Washington County's sheriff and district

attorney, saying the current law is best for law enforcement and benefits all residents).
