Now, it's a question people around the growing commercial area of Northeast Brookwood Parkway in Hillsboro will be able to ask themselves.

Which Wich Superior Sandwiches opened its new location at 5282 N.E. Brookwood Parkway on Monday, Feb. 17.

Which Wich is an international restaurant chain founded in Dallas, Texas, in 2003 that has seen rapid growth in recent years, according to several recent media reports. The restaurant has about 500 locations in the United States and in 12 other counties, but the restaurant on Brookwood Parkway is only the second Which Wich location to open in Oregon.

Longtime Hillsboro resident Dan Hamby and co-owner Scott Bean opened the state's first Which Wich location in Tigard in 2016, after leaving a software company that had recently closed its Hillsboro offices.

Hamby said he's excited to open his second location, adding that he plans to open more locations in the Portland area soon.

"We're kind of right in the middle of the whole high-tech sector out here in Hillsboro, and we're really centrally located for, I'd say, tens of thousands of employees here," Hamby said. "We do most of our business at lunch."

The restaurant offers catering, online ordering, and delivery with its own drivers as well as through third-party delivery services Grubhub and DoorDash.

In-store Which Wich customers order sandwiches by using a marker to fill out checkboxes on a bag indicating the different sandwiches and topping options. More than 30 different sandwiches are all customizable, but several sandwich "favorites" such as the "Bánh Mì," "Gyro" and "Cheeseburger Wich" are fully prepared.

Hamby said Which Wich offers more topping options than other sandwich restaurants typically do.

"I usually make myself a turkey with pepper jack cheese, and we have an olive salad with different types of sliced up olives in an oil that's a little bit spicy, and mushrooms, and then I run it through the oven, and on the other side, I put hummus, bell peppers, banana peppers, tomatoes and lettuce on it," Hamby said.

He said the restaurant also offers hand-scooped ice cream milkshakes, and it recently started serving French fries.

Jeff Vickers, president of Which Wich franchise development, said Hamby and Bean's passion for the brand allows them to turn the average guest into a "fanatic."

Hamby said he and Bean are looking for other potential real estate to open additional Which Wich locations in the Portland area.
