Beaverton's Experience Theatre Project performs live online shows
A Beaverton theater company is bringing immersive virtual performances straight to people's homes.
In a press release Monday, Aug. 17, Experience Theatre Project announced that "Le Chat Noir Moderne," a live monthly virtual immersive artist salon featuring artists from all over the region and the world would feature singers, dancers, painters, poets and actors for a contemporary take on the classic Parisian entertainment establishment, Le Chat Noir.
"Le Chat Noir brings much needed live artistry and storytelling safely to audiences through their computer screens," said the theater company in a statement. "Le Chat Noir Moderne is somewhere between a virtual stage surrounded by interactive performance pieces performed by artists both local and international."
For the month of August, the theater will present the theme "Cirque Soirée," a mix of both classic and modern takes on circus arts. The virtual realm features vintage music reborn, inspired cabaret dance, sword dancing and mystical artistry reminiscent of a vintage cirque.
The featured act includes Isaiah Esquire, a Boylesque performer from Portland.
"Guests are encouraged to dim the lights and pour themselves a drink … and enjoy performances from all over the world," said the announcement. "Upon entering the virtual salon … visitors choose one of six artist doors leading to one of six artists who will both perform and interact with visitors. A featured act performs (then) following a VIP meet and greet of salon artists."
The next "Le Chat Noir" performance will be on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 6 p.m. with tickets available at experiencetheatreproject.org. Tickets range from $15 to $100.
