The Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center along with the Tualatin Hills Athletic Center will reopen on Aug. 31.

PMG FILE PHOTO - THPRD announced that the Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center along with the Tualatin Hills Athletic Center will reopen on Monday, Aug. 31.

The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District is welcoming back the public to two of its facilities.

In a press release on Wednesday, Aug. 19, THPRD announced that the Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center and the Tualatin Hills Athletic Center will reopen in a somewhat limited capacity on Monday, Aug. 31.

The district is making some changes at the facilities due to the coronavirus pandemic, including the activities offered and the processes to access services.

As for the pools at Conestoga, they will remain closed until Washington County enters Phase 2 of the state's reopening framework.

"We're a large district and we serve 250,000 people," explained Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District spokesperson Holly Thompson. "So, we were being very conscientious about location. They wanted to have two locations that were spread out geographically in the district."

If you're planning on visiting either of the facilities, reservations are required for most activities. People will be able to register for various amenities such as the weight room or sign up for classes online.

Reservations can be made one week in advance for use of the weight room, fitness classes, and indoor courts and gyms.

"These spaces really do belong to the public and (those spaces) are treasured and needed," said Thompson. "Staff members are just so happy to be able to begin and open up again."

Online reservations will be available starting Monday, Aug. 24, and on a rolling seven-day basis thereafter.

Starting Aug. 31, the Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday through Saturday, at 9985 S.W. 125th Ave. in Beaverton. The Tualatin Hills Athletic Center will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Face coverings are required for individuals over the age of 5 inside THPRD buildlings, in compliance with Gov. Kate Brown's emergency orders aimed at controlling the spread of the coronavirus.
