She dominates all the awards available to Oregon volleyball players during 2020

PMG PHOTO: MATT SINGLEDECKER - Mountainside senior Izzi Szulczewski (here celebrating her team's 2019 win over Jesuit) was named Prep Volleyball Player of the Year on May 26 by the Oregon Sports Awards.Mountainside High School's Izzi Szulczewski left nothing on the table.

Szulczewski, a 5-foot-7 senior setter and outside hitter for the Mavericks' volleyball team, was previously named first-team all-Metro League and Metro League Player of the Year, first-team all-state and Oregon 6A Player of the Year, and Oregon Gatorade Player of the Year.

So it came as no surprise when she added one more prestigious honor to her collection last week — she was named Prep Volleyball Player of the Year by the Oregon Sports Awards on May 26.

During her spectacular senior season, Szulczewski led her team to a second-place finish in the Metro League — an effort that included handing Jesuit its first loss in more than a year — a first-ever berth in the Class 6A state tournament and a fourth-place finish there, along with a 24-7 overall record.

She was also a two-time first team all-league selection and won a berth on the 2019 all-tournament first team.

Szulczewski was a four-year starter in high school, totaling 333 kills, 392 assists, 235 digs, 47 aces, 46 blocks and a .266 hitting percentage. Szulczewski has maintained a weighted 3.34 GPA in the classroom.

She will attend Oregon State University in the fall.
