OnPoint credit union to open in Scappoose Fred Meyer
OnPoint Community Credit union will open a branch in the Scappoose Fred Meyer next year.
Last month, the credit union announced it would open 20 new branches in Fred Meyer locations across Oregon and Southwest Washington. The Scappoose branch is expected to open in late spring or early summer 2021, OnPoint chief retail officer Tory McVay said.
The new branches will open throughout the first half of 2021, with construction beginning in January, according to a press release. Branches will offer "a complete suite of financial services, including membership enrollment, consumer and commercial lending, mortgages, financial planning, ATMs and notarization," the press release stated.
The credit union is currently hiring for the branch manager and will begin hiring for other positions at the branch as the opening date approaches.
The Fred Meyer location will be OnPoint's first branch in Columbia County.
The Scappoose Fred Meyer had been home to a Chase Bank branch until earlier this year. The local branch was one of 1,000 locations across the country that closed temporarily in March, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Chase announced that the Scappoose closure was permanent earlier this fall.
