Ideas for Upcycling 'Lumber Yard Loot'
Cabinet Doors and Drawer Fronts—when new cabinet door styles are introduced, displays are recycled. Turn cabinet doors and drawer fronts into serving trays, inspiration plaques, chalk boards or bulletin boards. Add some chalk paint and voila!!
Odds and Ends Lumber-There are always odd sizes of different lumber in the scape bins at the lumber yard. Find a piece of salvaged 4x4, drill out a place for a tea light and you'll have the same rustic mood lighting available in high end home décor shops. Odds and ends pieces of molding make great picture frames at a fraction of what you'd pay for a store bought frame. If you stain and sand them, you can get that barn wood look.
Dermel Tool—A Dermel tool can turn an inexpensive glass into a special gift by etching a personal message. Having a party? Upcycle those extra glasses that are stuffing your cupboards. Engrave a party theme, name or date onto the glass. Guests can take them home to remember the party. Great for Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, engagement parties, bridal and baby showers, too.
Black Pipe-Yes, the latest trend is industrial décor. With inexpensive black pipe from the lumber yard you can create your own high-end looking lamps, bookcases and chandeliers. The industrial craze is back!
For more cool "lumber yard loot" projects come to our Ladies Night 2017 on October, 10 from 6 to 9. In addition to hands-on DIY projects and demonstrations we'll have food, fun and frivolity.
