Plaque is bad, it generates acid which causes cavities, gum disease and bad breath. Only flossing can remove the plaque between your teeth. 1/3 of your tooth surface is between the teeth and only flossing can reach it.
Flossing keeps food from being trapped between teeth and causing bad breath.
Flossing helps you avoid costly dental appointments. Cleaning between your teeth removes plaque that can lead to cavities or gum disease.
Not flossing can make your gums sore and bleed due to plaque buildup.
Now that you are convinced that flossing is to your benefit, here is how to do it. Wind about 18 inches of floss around your middle fingers. Slide the floss between your teeth and move it up and down to dislodge particles and plaque. Repeat on both sides of your teeth, using a new area of floss each time.
