Operation Snuggle creaed more than 300 warm blankets for homeless students in Canby and Molalla

More than 300 people filled two gyms at Baker Prairie Middle School Saturday.

After the cutting and tying was over, Operation Snuggle organizer Dawn Depner has one word to describe the effort Saturday – "Epic."

About 300 people came to both Baker Prairie Middle School's two gyms Saturday morning to cut and tie blankets for homeless students in both Canby and Molalla. In all, the volunteers put together 335 blankets in two hours.

"We always have a friendly competition between Canby Fire and Canby Police, so when a blanket is finished, the creators decide which team they want the blanket applied to," said Depner. "Canby Fire won this year.

"Baker Prairie Middle School staff and students clearly embrace the importance of helping their community and I am so thankful for that," Depner added.

Dr. John Zieg helps put together a blanket during Saturday's Operation Snuggle event at Baker Prairie Middle School.
