Canby Knights of Columbus members responded to a call from a California Knight for help

Canby Knights of Columbus members provided assistance to wildfire victims in California.

When a fellow Knights of Columbus member called with a need, members of Canby's Knights of Columbus Chaper 3484 responded.

Local member Mike Gorka got a call from a friend of his in Cloverdale, Calif. The residents of his friends small northern California community had suffered terrible losses and struggles in the midst of the wildfires that had ravaged their community. Gorka called on his fellow Knights of Columbus members at St. Patrick's Catholic Church for help. Within 24 hours, the Knights had collected donations and came up with a plan to get them to California quickly.

Duane Kloser organized the monetary donations and Jesse Villareal and Gregory Perez drive 1,300 miles to deliver food, bedding, personal hygiene items and household goods to the people struggling with the aftermath of the wildfires.

Perez and Villareal got an up-close look at the destruction and devastation and both said they were humbled ot be part of the mission.
