Molalla Police Department will conduct extra patrols focused on drivers who are impaired

The Molalla Police Department will have extra patrols out during Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 4.

On Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 4, the Molalla Police Department will be conducting additional patrols focused on detecting and arresting drivers who are under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, or any other intoxicating substance. Every day, almost 29 people in the United States die in alcohol-impaired vehicle crashes--that's one person every 50 minutes in 2016. Intoxicated drivers killed 10,497 people in 2016. Of those, 1,233 were children under 14 years of age. The Molalla Police Department wants to remind drivers the danger of impaired driving. If someone decides to drink and drive or consume marijuana or any other impairing substance, they should plan ahead and have a designated driver or alternate transportation. The goal of the Molalla Police Department is to ensure the roads in and around the City of Molalla are safe for everyone and to prevent avoidable tragedies.
