Canby Area Transit announces change of Route 99 to Route 99X, as well as other tweaks

On April 2, Canby Area Transit (CAT) will change the name of its Route 99 to the Route 99X.

At the same time the schedule will change. The span of service hours and the frequency of the service have both been improved in the new schedule.

Following a public meeting on Feb. 22 and a public comment period which ended on March 7, the Route 99X schedule has been finalized.

The Route 99X will run between Oregon City and Woodburn once per hour from 5:25 a.m. until 8:20 p.m. With the first bus leaving Oregon City at 5:25 a.m. and the last bus leaving Woodburn at 7:32 p.m.

Route 99X will run between Oregon City and Canby at least hourly between 5 a.m. and 10:45 p.m.

Canby Area Transit has officially made some changes to routes.

The first bus leaving Canby at 5 a.m. and the last bus leaving Oregon City at 10:25 p.m. During commute hours the frequency between Oregon City and Canby will be half hourly. From 5:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

To accomplish these changes three bus stops inside Canby will be eliminated.

Stop 1125 at the Vietnam Era Memorial on SW Fourth Avenue and stop 4000 inside the Canby Market Center parking lot at 1401 SE First Ave. will be eliminated. Also, CAT buses will no longer use stop 1121 on NW Second Avenue near the former Parsons Pharmacy building.

Stop 1121 is also a SMART bus stop. SMART buses will continue to service this stop. Several seldom used CAT bus stops along Hwy. 99E will also be closed (7 northbound and 6 southbound).

Prior to the service changes on April 2 "Stop Closure Notices" will be posted on all of the bus stops that are closing.
