Education summit set for CHS
Canby High School will hold a Career and Technical Education Summit (CTE) on Wednesday, April 25, from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
This is the second year for the summit, whose purpose allows students to make connections and partnerships with local businesses and industries.
It allows the school to expose its CTE programs and shows how to improve alignment with the school and business and industry's needs.
There will be four presenters at the summit. Principal Greg Dinse will speak on the school's CTE programs and the student population.
Sue Winner, who coordinates the school to work program will discuss internships.
Sara Dorn, the regional CTE coordinator will talk about state needs in CTE, and some Canby High students will speak on their experience with CTE program.
Prior to the April 20 last day for reservations, 20 were confirmed to attend.
Last year's attendance was better than expected with about 15 local businesses and chamber members, parents, administrators, school board members and the regional CTE director.
