The Oregon State Fair's homebrew beer and amateur wine competitions deadlines are approaching

Calling all homebrewers and winemakers! The deadlines for entry to the Oregon State Fair's Homebrew Beer and Amateur Wine competitions are approaching, with the first deadline on Friday, June 15.

"In a region known for its pioneering efforts in craft brewing and winemaking, this competition highlights exciting new talent in our state," said Dan Cox, Oregon State Fair spokesperson. "Past winners have garnered considerable recognition, praise from their peers, enviable prizes, and the opportunity to develop industry relationships."

The HYPERLINK "" Amateur Wine Competition entries are due by Friday, June 15 at 5 p.m. Wines, entry registration and fees must be registered and paid online prior to entries being mailed or delivered. Entries and wines must be submitted and received by Friday, June 15. Only online entries will be accepted. Complete entry details can be found HYPERLINK "" here. The wine competition is in partnership with the Northwest Wine Studies Center at Chemeketa Eola.

The HYPERLINK "" Homebrew Beer Competition entries must be in by Friday, August 3 at 5 p.m. To be eligible for Best of Show, entrant must be a resident of Oregon or a member of an Oregon homebrew club. Comprehensive entry information can be found HYPERLINK "" here. The competition is sanctioned by the American Homebrewers Association and the Beer Judge Certification Program.

Last year's Homebrew Beer Competition winner, Jacob Lewandowski of the Malheur Mashers homebrew club, is brewing his recipe commercially with craft brewer Breakside Brewing, and the winning IPA called The Burrow will be served at both the brewery and the fair this year. The Homebrew Awards Ceremony will take place on August 25th at 2:00 pm at the Oregon State Fair.

Entrants for both competitions must be 21 or older to enter. All entries must be produced by entrant(s) outside of commercial establishment.
