Canby, Molalla and Aurora fire crews responded and protected nearby buildings just outside Canby

A burn pile unexpectedly reignited at a rural Canby residence last Wednesday, prompting area fire departments to respond.

Crews rushed to the fire at 27200 S. Barlow Rd. in Canby on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 4:32 p.m.

Extinguishing the flames required "a lot of people and a lot of water," according to Canby Fire's Public Information Officer Todd Gary.

The Canby Herald.

But firefighters were able to contain the fire, preventing damage to nearby buildings.

"There was a building that was fairly close," Gary said, "and the guys did a really good job of keeping it to the pile and protecting some structures."

Canby, Molalla and Aurora fire departments worked together to put out the fire.
