Catch the Christmas vibe of 1878 in Aurora on the candlelight tour, 'Christmas with the School Master'

Old Aurora Colony Museum will host a candlelight tour, "Christmas with the School Master," on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The event will present scenes from an 1878 Christmas.

Step into the year 1878 and experience an Aurora Colony Christmas, as seen through the eyes of the school master, his students, and other Aurora residents. It's a time when the Colony was about to see major changes to its way of life, yet the traditional joys of the holiday season endure.

The Canby Herald.

Lanterns light your way through the grounds of the Old Aurora Colony Museum. You'll move from building to building starting at the Ox Barn, experiencing mini-dramas as you visit the Steinbach log cabin, the tool shed, the wash house and the Kraus House. Then, enjoy hot cider and cookies and listen to Heartstrings, with Rob and Nancy Downie, playing beautiful pioneer music on hammered dulcimer and string bass.

Small groups start their journey every 15 minutes. Make your reservations now to ensure your tour time.

Admission is $15, $10 for members, students and military with identification.
