Canby City Council to hold single meeting in December
Canby's City Council will hold a long meeting on Dec. 5 starting with an early work session to discuss the process to recruit a new administrator to replace Rick Robinson at the end of October 2019. The League of Oregon Cities has a guide that will help members seek the best candidates for the pivotal job.
During the single December meeting members will look at three resolutions covering the supplemental budget to replace two police vehicles involved in accidents last summer, an IGA between the city and county for road maintenance and permitting Authority of Township Road as well as adopting new city financial policies. They also will discuss three ordinances, a second reading to amend the city's municipal code regarding the public library and the last to authorize a contract with Clackamas 800 Radio Group to purchase new replacement Motorola radios for the Police Department and doing it quickly.
Under new business, members will vote on cancelling the Dec. 19 council meeting.
In the first of bi-monthly reports, Jamie Stickel, economic development director will discuss the bi-monthly report for September and October to discuss pre-application meetings with Project Shakespeare, Gardeners and Ranchers Site for Tramel Crow. She also will note the Canby Tourism Plan has received a grant for $13,500. The city hopes to have a consultant on board to hold small group interviews, best practices and assess attractions, events and businesses that will help attract and retain customers for Canby.
Twelve other bi-monthly reports will follow. These are Administration, Police, Economic Development and Tourism, Finance, the Library, Planning and Development, the Swim Center, the Fleet Department, Parks Department, Public Works and the Waste Water Treatment program.
Mayor Brian Hodson will issue a proclamation calling Dec. 9-15 a Kiwanis Canby community food and toy drive and a second proclaiming the certification of the recent elections of the mayor and members Tracie Heidt, Greg Parker and Shawn Varwig.
