Chamber showing growth
Kyle Lang, Canby Chamber of Commerce's executive director reflects over his short 7 months in office, noting nearly 30 new members as well as finishing up with the Canby Relocation Book.
"The Canby Relocation Book is in the final proofing stages of development and is on target to hit in the January time frame," he said.
Lang also noted the Chamber's Legislative Committee is actively meeting in preparation for the session beginning after Jan. 1. The committee currently is reviewing items in preparation, along with other resources.
Lang thanked the Canby Chamber's board of directors, who've helped make his transition smooth, including Michelle Boren, Wendy Patton, Keri Olin, Jim Davis, Levi Manselle, Brandon Chase, Terri Gesik, Tina Schimpf, Joel Cutsforth, Jorge Martinez, Tyler Nizer and Mallory Gwynn.
For those of you looking forward to January's luncheon, it will be on Jan. 8. The first Tuesday of the month is Jan. 1, so the thought was to push it back a week. The guest speaker will be Steve Williams from the county's transportation department. He will discuss the findings from the Canby Ferry study.
Chamber members are beginning to plan the 2019 Gala, set for Saturday, March 2. Any members who would like to join the planning committee, call the office at 503-266-4600 and ask to speak with Audrey Traaen.
They are looking for donations for the auction. The committee is good at putting together baskets, adventure days and more from large and small donations. Items to consider are gift cards, themed gift baskets, cash donations to create baskets in your name, live auction items such as vacation rentals, event and sports tickets and beauty or spa baskets.
