Canby School District welcomes new board members
This month, Canby School District said goodbye to two longtime board members and welcomed two new ones.
Diane Downs served three terms on the board before deciding not to seek reelection this year. Three ran for the open position, and Dawn Depner won the most votes. Depner will fill the position effective July 1.
Andrea Weber served two terms in position 6. Stefani Carlson initially challenged Weber for the position, then decided to withdraw when was too late to officially do so, Carlson said; but Carlson won the most votes and accepted the position after all. Carlson will also start officially in July.
"We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Diane Downs and Andrea Weber for their years of dedication to the Canby School District Board of Directors," the district said in a statement on social media. "We greatly appreciate your service and your commitment to the children in our district. Thank you for all you have done."
Depner and Carlson took their oath of office at the board's June 20 meeting.
