Hard to believe it, but the annual Aurora Colony Days celebration turns 30 this year.
The annual ode to Aurora begins Friday, Aug. 9, with a family-friendly beer garden, then kicks into high gear Saturday morning and runs through the afternoon.
Something new this year is a trolley service that will run throughout Aurora – from the Aurora Colony Museum to the Pacific Hazelnut Candy Factory – providing Colony Days visitors an easier way to get around and see everything.
Here's what's on tap for this year's 30th celebration of Aurora Colony Days.
Family Friendly Beer Garden
Friday, Aug. 9, 5 to 11 p.m.
In the Museum Courtyard
Featuring the Timothy James Band
Enjoy beer and brats in the Aurora Colony Beer Garden to kick off Aurora Colony Days. Old Aurora's famous German hospitality will live again in our family-friendly beer garden in the courtyard of the museum, Friday night only.
Sip a brew, enjoy brats and curly fries from Ebner's, and listen to live music from the Timothy James Band, fresh from the Waterfront Blues Festival and the Journey to Memphis competition. There'll be ice cream too, and beverages for kids of all ages.
Saturday, Aug. 10, 7 to 11 a.m.
The American Legion Hall, 21510 Main St., is a good way to start the Aurora Colony Days experience with a pancake breakfast. Cost is $7 for adult, $4 for children through age 11.
Downtown Sidewalk Sale
Saturday, Aug. 10, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Aurora's downtown streets come alive with a host of vendors selling everything from antiques to food.
Aurora Colony Days Free
At the Old Aurora Colony Museum
As part of Aurora Colony Days, the Old Aurora Colony Museum will offer free admission on Saturday, Aug. 10, with activities for the family. The first 50 kids to sign in at the shed can make a free wooden Colony tote box, while they last. There will be grain to grind, games to play indoors and out, fun activities in the courtyard, and interesting sights to see.
Aurora Colony Days Parade
The 2019 parade theme is the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Aurora Colony Days. The floats, classic cars, bands, horses, community groups, local merchants, honored citizens, veterans and public service vehicles will stimulate all the senses for those lined along the more than mile-long parade route.
There is no fee to join in the fun!
• Drop off your Entry Form to the City Hall by Wednesday, Aug. 7.
• Check-in will be between 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. on the Main Street side of the Park at Bob's Avenue. Parade starts at 11 a.m.
Enjoy a chip-timed 5K run, or brisk walk, winding through the historic streets of Aurora, The race begins bright and early on Saturday, Aug. 10. The 5K run/walk kicks off at 7:30 a.m. at the Old Aurora Colony Museum (15018 2nd St.), which the 1K Kids Fun Run starting at 8:30 a.m. from the same location.

Market in the Park
The annual Aurora Colony Days Market in the Park runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Wind around different booths, enjoying the backdrop of Aurora's beautiful Park. Treasures for you, gifts to be found and so much more await you.
Aurora Colony Car Show at the Park
Saturday, Aug. 10, Noon to 4 p.m.
Aurora City Park comes alive with the past as classic cars come to town. There will be live music by Timothy James.
