In this week's Canby Vibe podcast, the staff of the Canby Herald talked city council tidbits, wine choices and pronunciations, an upcoming film festival in Canby, as well as the issues surrounding sex education.
In short, some fun topics were on the table for Editor John Baker, Reporter Carol Rosen, Assistant Editor Kristen Wohlers and Sports Editor Derek Wiley.
Carol discussed some tidbits about the previous night's city council meeting, most notably the outpouring of appreciation for soon-to-retire City Administrator Rick Robinson, and reminded folks there will be a retirement party for Robinson beginning at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Gwynn's Coffeehouse.
Kristen, who had to deal with John's vacation and the need to move all in the same timeframe, talked about a new wine she discovered at Costco, a revelation that got Carol involved as they discussed wine and the pronunciation of the Bordeaux that Kristen had enjoyed.
The fourth annual Canby Film Fest is set for Wednesday night, Oct. 9, at the Canby Cinema 8 theater and John offered some information on who, what and when all of that is going to happen, as well as a little history.
From there, the group segued nicely into a discussion of the sex ed curriculum that's undergoing some tweaks at Canby School District, as well as some things they've learned and been exposed to in regards to sexually-focused information, both as children and now as parents.
