Storm workshop on tap
The Canby Public Library will have a busy October with plenty of programs and classes on tap. Here's something coming up this week
> West Coast Hurricane: The Great Columbus Day Storm will be the topic of a talk with historian and author Sig Unander on Oct. 8 at 6:30 p.m. Unander will show how the greatest natural disaster to hit the region, devastated the Northwest in the fall of 1962.
The sudden, shocking destruction and the reconstruction that followed are epic stories.
This massive storm altered the region's civil defense system, forest management, weather forecasting, emergency preparation, and the electrical power grid.
