Aurora looking to fill youth post
The City of Aurora has created a Youth Planning Commissioner position and is seeking applications from eligible students.
The aim of the program is to advise the Planning Commission on community issues from a youth perspective, increase student participation in local government and provide input on issues of importance to Aurora youth.
To be considered, a student must be a resident of Aurora and attend a public or private school where they have, and maintain, passing grades in their classes.
The successful youth city councilor will sit with the Planning Commission at meetings and comply with rules of procedure and conduct themselves in a professional manner. The Youth Commissioner must be able to commit to attending regular meetings of the Planning Commission on the first Tuesday of each month in the council chambers of Aurora City Hall.
Responsibilities will be the same as sitting commissioners, except the youth position will not have voting rights.
