Canby Vibe: Episode 37
Hiring teachers of color, and why that's important, was the main thrust of this week's Canby Vibe podcast.
Canby Herald staffers Kristen Wohlers, Carol Rosen, Derek Wiley and John Baker tackled the topic of hiring more teachers of color within the Canby School District, and why they think it's an important component of education moving forward. The staff discussed a recent study of the Canby School District that pointed out a fairly large disparity between the school's racial make-up and its teacher force. It was a lively discussion that touched on many topics within the conversation, as well as some disappointment with some reaction to the story Wohlers had posted online.
Additionally, the Herald staff enjoyed some fun Canby City Council tidbits via Rosen's meeting the night before, as well as discussed their hope that a Sleep in Heavenly Peace event, which will include Canby, will be held at the convention center in Portland.
