Canby Police annual coat/sock drive is on

The Canby Police Department's annual Holiday Coat Drive has begun and will run through Dec. 31. Drop off new and gently use warm coats and new socks at the station, 1175 NW 3rd Ave. All donations stay in Canby.

Canby Lions selling Christmas trees

The Canby Lions Club once again has its fundraising Christmas tree lot going, and will run until the supply of trees lasts. The lot will be located at the corner of Second Avenue and Ivy Street by the Wells Fargo building. The lot will be open from 2-6 p.m. on weekdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the weekend.

Canby Legion sets Christmas tree sales

Canby Post #122 American Legion will be selling Christmas trees through the holidays. The lot is Iocated at NW First Avenue and N. Fir Street in Canby. Hours are Wednesday through Friday, noon to 9 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.; closed Monday and Tuesday. For more information, call 503-266-9235.

BPMS will hold production of 'Scrooge'

Baker Prairie Middle School will present "Scrooge" at the Richard R. Brown Fine Arts Center. Shows will be Dec. 5-6 at 7 p.m., and Dec. 7 at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at Cutsforth's Thriftway. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Canby Legion Auxiliary set Sunday breakfast

The Canby Legion Auxiliary will hold a complimentary breakfast for veterans at the post, 424 NW 1st Street, on Sunday, Dec. 8, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. There will be bacon, sausage, ham or chicken fried steak. Proceeds go to the Portland Veteran Christmas Gift Shop for veteran's families. Meals are $6 for guests 11 and older and $3 for guests 10 and under. Guests can add eggs to order, hash browns, pancakes, French toast, biscuits, and biscuits and gravy. Coffee, juice and milk is offered upon request. Use the Fir Street side door.

Christmas tour of homes slates December run

Friends of the Canby Public Library will hold its 6th Annual Christmas Tour of Homes on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The tour will take in five homes decorated for Christmas. This is one of the Friends' major fundraisers for the year.

Tickets are $15 each and be purchased at Cutsforth's Thriftway or at the library.

Nutcracker coming to fine arts center

Allegro Dance Studio will present its production of "The Nutcracker" on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 14-15, at the Richard R. Brown Fine Arts Center in Canby. Show times are 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 and 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets went on sale Nov. 30 and are available through Tututix, or by calling 435-222-2849. Santa will be on stage after the 1 p.m. show on Sunday for photos.

Messiah sing-along set for Zion Mennonite

Zion Mennonite Church, 6124 S. Whiskey Hill Road, will once again host a 'Messiah Sing-Along" on Saturday, Dec. 21, beginning at 7 p.m. The event will be directed by Tom Gingerich and accompanied by piano and a small string ensemble. This unrehearsed event offers attendees the chance to join in with the singing or simply listen along as selections from Handel's Messiah are presented. The event is free and open to the public, though donations are accepted for the accompanists and soloists. Choral scores are available or bring one along if you already have one.

Blood drive set for Canby Fire

The Canby Fire District will hold a blood drive on Friday, Jan. 10, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the department, 221 S. Pine St. To schedule your appointment, call 1-800-Red-Cross or visit and repeat the sponsor code: CanbyFire.

CAC hosts bingo every Tuesday

The Canby Adult Center hosts bingo every Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m. Packet sales open at noon and all ages are welcome. Bingo is held at 1250 S. Ivy St.
