Each contestant raised funds for worthy charities, Ruby Kayser came away with crown

Canby High School's student leadership team held its annual Royal Cougar pageant on Wednesday, Jan. 22, and many came out to support.

The event was free to attend, but each contestant asked for donations to a charity of their choosing.

The represented charities were the Australian Zoo Wildlife Hospital, Thirst Project, Doernbecher Children's Hospital, Miniature Schnauzer Rescue, House of Dreams, Dreaming Zebras Foundation and the World Wildlife Fund.

In the end, senior Ruby Kayser was crowned as this year's Royal Cougar.
