Two more residents of Marquis at the Hope Village Post-Acute Rehab senior care facility in Canby have died, bringing the total losses to nine during the coronavirus outbreak there as of Saturday, June 20.

Additionally, seven more staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. This week, Marquis retested all staff at the rehab facility who had previously tested negative. Out of those 67 tests, seven returned positive, bringing the total case count to 76. Four more were tested later, and those results are still pending.

As of Oregon Health Authority's last report ending June 14, there were 92 COVID-19 cases associated with the facility, including family and other contacts.

But it's not all bad news.

According to April Diaz, the vice president of clinical services for Marquis, Hope Village has received an outpouring of love from the Canby community and some care partners. On Tuesday, June 16, Home Instead Senior Care and Kindred Hospice delivered flowers from 4th Quarter Farm to all residents and staff at the rehab facility.

The Hope Village campus is now spotted with signs that read, "We will get through this," "Our prayers are with you," "You are not alone," and more. In window after window are flyers with a heart at the center and the message "You are vital." At the front of the campus, as well as in front of the rehab facility, are yard cards that say, "We love #healthcareheroes."

Plus, some residents who tested positive for COVID-19 are improving, Diaz said.

"We have seven residents (out of the 33 who tested positive) who remain asymptomatic, some residents who previously had moderate symptoms are now mild, as well as a couple of critical residents that now have moderate symptoms," Diaz said.
