Keeping its July 4 tradition alive, albeit with modifications, St. James Church will again barbecue chicken

The battle with COVID-19 may have left much of the annual July 4 revelry canceled, but the good folks at St. James Church are carrying on with their annual chicken barbecue.

When you stop by the parking lot of 301 Frances St, prepare for the enticing smell of barbecued chicken and the hunger that comes with it. The annual St. James BBQ Chicken event has returned for its 62nd edition.

As always, this year's pit crew will begin its preparations early on July 4, and things will kick off at 10 a.m. sharp and go until 4 p.m.

Due to the pandemic, however, the event will only offer chicken halves, no sides. A chicken half, bagged and ready to go will cost $8. The booth takes cash, credit and checks.
