Free life jackets for kids available Saturday at locations around Oregon and Washington, including Clackamas County Fairgrounds

COURTESY PHOTO - Free life jackets for kids are available Saturday, July 11 at locations around Oregon and Washington, including at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds.

With the arrival of the height of swim season, some local groups are teaming up to help ensure kids stay safe in the water.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 11, with help from sponsor Coastal Farm & Ranch and local radio stations, free life jackets will be available around Oregon and Washington at the following locations.

• Albany: Linn County Fairgrounds

• Portland area: Clackamas County Fairgrounds

• Roseburg: Douglas County Fairgrounds

• Yakima: Central Washington State Fairgrounds

• Mount Vernon: Skagit County Fairgrounds

• Auburn: Enumclaw Expo Center

• Redmond: Deschutes County Fairgrounds

• White City: Jackson County Fairgrounds

• Sequim: Clallam County Fairgrounds

• Marysville: Evergreen State Fair Park

This will be a contactless event. There is no need to bring the children or get out of the car. Simply be aware of each child's weight to receive the proper life jacket.

Three sizes of jackets will be available while supplies last: infant up to 50 pounds, child 33 to 55 pounds, and youth 55 to 88 pounds.
