Sunday Highway 22 crash in Marion County turns fatal
A Canby man was involved in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 22 in Marion County Sunday, that turned fatal and closed the highway for about six and a half hours.
Curtis Gagner, 42, of Canby, survived and was reportedly not transported to a hospital.
On Sunday, July 26 at about 2:59 p.m., Oregon State Police troopers and emergency personnel responded to the crash on Highway 22 near mile post 38.
Police said the preliminary investigation revealed that Scott Zadow, 43, from Portland, was operating a silver Ford F150 traveling eastbound when his vehicle crossed into the westbound lane and sideswiped Gagner's vehicle, a Nissan Pathfinder.
Zadow's vehicle, the F150, continued westbound and collided into a VW Passat that John Berquist, 50, of Turner, was driving.
Berquist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased, according to state police.
Zadow was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
State police said they are still investigating the cause of the crash. Anyone who has information is asked to contact OSP.
Assisting OSP in the response were Gates Fire Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
