Canby School District seeks budget committee members
The Canby School District Board of Directors is seeking budget committee members, and anyone interested is encouraged to apply.
There are four regular budget committee positions open for two- and three-year terms, according to an email from the district. New members will join the school board members and current citizen members Amanada Moyer-DeMarre, Nate DeCoste and Robb Milano.
The budget committee is a group of school board members and citizens that reviews the school district's proposed budget. The committee can make changes to the proposal to meet the spending goals and objectives established by the school board. The board also is responsible for approving the completed budget.
The committee does not set salaries, benefits or contract terms for employees or administrators; does not set staffing levels; does not add or nix programs or services; and does not make district policies.
The committee meets twice in May each year, according to Canby School District's 2020 budget calendar. Members also may be needed at certain regular school board meetings.
To be eligible, you must be a qualified voter of the district and not be an officer, agent or employee of the district.
