With the original event canceled, a tournament pops up at Willamette Valley Country Club and delivers big-time

Members of the Willamette Valley Country Club, and their guests, hit the links Nov. 7 for a fundraiser for The Canby Center and Friends of the Canby Library.

In all, 134 players traversed the course in a scramble format on their way to raising $20,693 for those two entities.

The winning team was made up of Keith Hawkins, Doug Jacobson, Randy Gay and TJ Lane. Second place went to Dick Griffin, Bobby Clemo, Tom Moff and Steve Hoffeditz.

Laura Baldonado chaired the event, which replaced the Ladies Holiday Luncheon due to COVID-19 restrictions. An exciting outcome of the change to a tournament was that the club was able to raise twice as much money in the process. Because of the success of the tournament, another already has been scheduled for 2021.
