Thelma's Place offers respite for caregivers
Thelma's Place in Canby is offering free respite care during its monthly support group, which meets from 6 to 7 p.m. every third Wednesday.
Relatives and other unpaid caregivers play a critical and rarely recognized role in how we care for our family members. Especially in the middle of this pandemic, caregivers need respite services more than ever.
For more information, visit the Thelma's Place Facebook page, check out the website at www.thelmaspplace.net, or call 503-266-5100.
Canby facade improvement grants awarded
At its Jan. 20, the Canby Urban Renewal Agency approved to projects for matching grants of up to $25,000 to complete facade improvements for the Holly Mall and the former Parson's Building.
Both projects will involve masonry cleaning and repainting. Holly Mall, home to Panaderia Oaxaca and Pappy's Greasy Spoon, also will replace the exterior lighting fixtures under the canopy of the buildings. The former Parsons Building will receive new double doors and windows added to the tenant space facing North Grant Street. The Book Nook plans to occupy this new space along Grant Avenue.
