School community can meet and greet the three finalists virtually on June 1-2

The Canby School District Board of Directors has selected three finalists for the district's superintendency.

Each finalist will travel to Canby next week for a series of virtual meet and greet opportunities. Interpretation will be provided for each community session.

District staff has already been provided meeting times and links for the virtual staff sessions.

Following final interviews and meet and greet sessions, the board of directors is expected to announce its selection for superintendent next week.

Allen Barber

Allen Barber is the principal at Eagle Point Middle School in the Eagle Point School District in Jackson County, Oregon. Barber earned bachelor's and master's degrees in music education from Western Kentucky University.

Barber previously served as the director of human resources, secondary education, and AVID district director for the Eagle Point School District. He's also been a middle school principal, assistant principal, and was the Oregon Music Educator of the year in 2006.

Barber lives in Eagle Point, Oregon.

Dr. Aaron Downs

Dr. Aaron Downs serves as the assistant superintendent of secondary schools in the West Linn-Wilsonville School District. Downs earned a bachelor's degree from George Fox University and a doctorate of education from Lewis and Clark College.

Downs previously served as the principal of Wilsonville High School, a high school teacher, advisor, and coach.

Downs lives in Clackamas County with his wife and children.

Bret Heller

Bret Heller is the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning at the West Ada School District in Meridian, Idaho, where he has served for more than 20 years. Heller earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in education from the University of Idaho. He is completing his Ph.D in Educational Leadership.

Prior to his current position, Heller served as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for West Ada schools. He has also been a high school and middle school principal and teacher.

Heller lives in Meridian, Idaho.
