Palacios is in the band
Jacob Palacios, a member of the Canby FFA chapter, will be on stage and in the spotlight Oct. 27-30 during the 2021 National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Palacios, a junior at Canby High School and the son of Ignacio and Michelle Palacios, has been selected to play bass clarinet in the National FFA Band.
He submitted an audition tape and was selected to help bring instrumental balance to the band from a pool of applicants nationwide.
"I'm really looking forward to playing in the National FFA Band," Palacios said. "I have only seen the national convention on television, so it will be amazing to attend my first convention and also be on stage playing in the band. A lot of members audition for national band, so I am really honored that I was selected."
Palacios serves as the Canby FFA chapter sentinel.
The National FFA Band will perform several times during the national convention and expo. Palacios will join fellow band members in Indianapolis for rehearsals three days before the convention and expo begins.
The National FFA Organization is a school-based national youth leadership development organization of more than 735,000 student members as part of 8,817 local FFA chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
