Canby Police Department to host Grill & Chill community appreciation event Tuesday, Sept. 7

COURTESY PHOTO: JORGE TRO - Canby Police are holding a community appreciation event from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7.Canby Police are taking the time to say "thank you" to the community with the first annual Grill & Chill.

The community appreciation event takes place at the police department, 1175 NW 3rd Ave. in Canby, from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7.

"It's our way of saying thanks to the great community we serve," Chief Jorge Tro said. "We want community members of all ages to come down to meet our officers and have some fun."

The event will boast drone and K9 demonstrations, as well as different types of police vehicles and equipment, including a SWAT vehicle for people to check out up close. Kids will be able to see how fast they can run with the department's speed watch radar trailer.

Police will also be serving up free hot dogs, chips, water and shaved ice.

Kiwanis is sponsoring a free photo booth, and there will be giveaways.
