Canby Area Beautification will need some help planting 200 rose bushes along Highway 99E on Jan. 22

Upwards of 200 rose bushes will be planted along Highway 99E on Jan. 22 and the Canby Area Beautification group is looking for some volunteer help.

The planting will be along the highway across from NW Furniture Outlet, beginning at 10 a.m., rain or shine. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a shovel and work gloves. Hot chili and cider will be provided.

"This ongoing beautification project has been amazing for improving the look along Highway 99E. I look forward to the planting event on Jan. 22," Mayor Brian Hodson said.

Canby Area Beautification President Cathy Rae Smith said, "Canby's tagline is 'The Garden Spot' and projects such as this work toward that goal. Through the strength of community involvement, donations and volunteers alike, we can achieve."

Crews from the Canby Fire Department and Rivers of Life Center plan to join in the planting project on Jan. 22.
