Lacey Canutt, 16, a homeschooled high school junior from Canby, will be in The Portland Ballet's production of "The Enchanted Toyshop" on Thanksgiving weekend. Canutt will be performing as Queen of Hearts and a Tarantella dancer.

She has danced for five years and has trained for a year with The Portland Ballet, where she is in the Youth Company.

She has also trained at Allegro Dance Company in Canby.

In the production, the magic begins when two children are left behind in a toy shop, and the Blue Fairy brings to life a parade of dancing dolls to entertain the guests. Pinocchio, playing cards and poodles are all part of the fast-paced fun.

Choreographed specifically for the world-class academy by John Clifford, Toyshop showcases various skill levels and international dance styles. Since its premiere in 2003, Toyshop has become TPB's signature showpiece.

Four concerts will be performed Thanksgiving weekend at Lincoln Performance Hall, at 1 and 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 26-27. Tickets start at $10. More information at or by calling 503-452-8448 (ext. 106).
