Thanksgiving morning workout fundraiser set for Molalla

MOLALLA — This year's Turkey Grind Community Workout, put on by NW Fitness & Strength, will be Nov. 24, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at 112 Main St. in Molalla.

This will be a fundraising event for the Molalla Adult Community Center. The event is free, but a donation of $10 is suggested.

Canby Library offering swag-making classes

CANBY — The Canby Public Library will present "Crafting for Adults" on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 3 and 4:30 p.m. participants will create a holiday swag using fresh greens.

Canby's snowman contest taking entries

CANBY — The 5th Annual Snowman Contest in downtown Canby is getting ready for another season. The event is open to all organizations, businesses and clubs. As always, the snowmen will be displayed in downtown Canby during the month of December. To register to participate, and also vote in your favorite creations, go to hotroddreamworks.com/contest.aspx.

Deadline to enter is Nov. 21. Voting runs online from Dec. 2-25.

Holiday flea market set for Aurora

AURORA — The annual Holiday Aurora Colony Flea Market will be Friday and Saturday, Dec. 3-4 at the Aurora American Legion Hall. The event features antiques, handcrafted items, artisan creations, local producers, home goods and more.

Christmas lighting event seeks entries

CANBY — The Friends of the Canby Public Library will hold its 2nd Annual Christmas Tour of Lights contest this year. The self-guided tour (map included with ticket purchase) runs from Dec. 1 to 27 with voting ending Dec. 28.

"This year the Friends want more residents and visitors to enjoy the festivities available in Canby, so we've expanded the tour and voting to the month of December," Gayle Elizabeth, event organizer, said.

The Friends are looking for more homes to be included on this year's tour. Participants can win a variety of prizes and categories have been added this year, including Best Patriotic, Best Religious and Most Whimsical displays

Molalla church plans holiday production

MOLALLA — The Molalla Nazarene Church will present its annual Christmas production on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3-4. Performances will be at 2 and 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 6 p.m. on Sunday.

The presentation, entitled "He Came," is a musical drama and dance performances. Admission is free and the church is at 920 Shirley St. in Molalla.

Canby's annual tree lighting set for Dec. 2

CANBY — The 21st Annual Light Up the Night will return to Canby's Wait Park on Friday, Dec. 2.

The evening kicks off at 6 p.m. with a lighted parade that winds through downtown before finishing at Wait Park. The Canby Fire District will deliver Santa and Mrs. Claus. There will be music, photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and the winner of "Who Lights Up Canby" will flip the switch on the lighting display in the park.

Molalla slates annual tree lighting event

MOLALLA — The Molalla Christmas tree lighting event will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will feature hot chocolate, cider, carols, a dance performance and other events, including the arrival of Santa, courtesy of the Molalla Area Chamber of Commerce.

Canby Grove offering holiday cookie event

CANBY — The Sixth Annual Cookie Bake, as part of Christmas at the Grove at the Canby Grove Christian Center, will run in two-hour blocks from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 and 10 in the dining hall.

Sugar cookie dough is $45 for a 10-pound bag and gingerbread dough is $40 for a 5-pound bag. All dough must be purchased online before the event. Frosting is also available for purchase.

Aurora's wine & chocolate walk returns

AURORA — The Aurora Wine and Chocolate Walk will be Dec. 3-4 in downtown Aurora. Participants can walk through Aurora's historic district and sample artisan wines and locally made chocolate in more than 15 merchant locations. The walk runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Early bird tickets are $49 (for two) available online at aurorawineandchocolate.com. Tickets can also be purchased at local shops and online for $59 (for two).

Canby plans leaf drop-off event Dec. 3

CANBY — The City of Canby will hold a free leaf drop-off event on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the public works facility, 1470 N. Territorial Road in Canby. The event accepts leaves only — no sticks or yard debris. Leaves will be accepted from trailers or truck beds or bagged in biodegradable paper bags.

Nilsen will play at Smyrna United Church

CANBY — Smyrna United Church of Christ will hold a Christmas program featuring pianist and guitarist John Nilsen on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 3 p.m. at 31119 S. Canby-Marquam Highway in Canby.

The program is free and there will be refreshments available. An offering will be taken to compensate Nilsen.

Molalla group eyes school bond options

MOLALLA — The "Molalla A Team" will hold a kick-off party on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. at the Molalla Middle School cafeteria to talk about a potential school bond for the district. The meeting will be an opportunity to hear what has been going on behind the scenes, discuss priorities and brainstorm ideas on how to make a difference for the children in the community. A buffet meal will be served, Superintendent Tony Mann and MRMS Principal Randy Dalton will offer their thoughts.

Allegro slates 'Nutcracker' performances

Allegro Dance Studio will present "The Nutcracker" on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 7:30 p.m., and again on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 1 and 5 p.m. at the Richard R. Brown Fine Arts Center in Canby.

Tickets are $18 online and $20 at the door (cash only). Santa will make a special appearance at the Sunday 1 p.m. show.
