Most recent Mulino Road death a reminder that this is a stretch of roadway that needs to be respected

To the editor:

On the heels of the most recent death here, I am writing to make a plea to government officials, Canby residents and commuters using Mulino Road.

To many locals, the road is known as Mulino Racetrack. To my neighbors and I, it is our home, our neighborhood, and a constant source of anxiety, anger and fear.

With its total lack of speed signs and zero police patrolling, Mulino Road is a speedway for the ever-growing number of commuters rushing to and from work each day, clueless to our children, our livestock, our loved ones checking mail and crossing the road to catch the bus. Motorcycles race by, engines blaring at top volume, and ongoing developments in Canby continue to increase heavy truck traffic.

The Herald-Pioneer.

Most of these folks don't live on Mulino and none seem to care they are ruining our quality of life, killing themselves and others. Today, a child is dead on Mulino Road for all of these reasons.

I wish I could say he was the first. I want to believe he will be the last. If you care about your own children, please leave earlier for work, slow down and notice that we live here. This is a neighborhood, not a freeway.

My heart is broken for this family whose child will never come home. Please join us in making Mulino Road a safe place to travel for everyone. Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to join the fight to take back our neighborhood.
