Mairen Chard goes to Tualatin
Canby junior Mairen Chard made her case for the state meet. After strong showings throughout the various meets of the season, Chard swam well enough to be making the trip to the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center on Friday, Feb. 15.
Chard qualified in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke with her performances at the Three Rivers League district meet at Mt. Hood Aquatic Center on Thursday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 9.
In the 100-yard butterfly Chard took fourth place with a time of 1:00.42 which seeds her 14th for the prelims. In the 100-yard backstroke, she took sixth place with a time of 1:00.66, which seeds her 16th for that particular event.
Chard also competed in a pair of relay events. She was the first leg of Canby's 200-yard medley relay team, along with junior Erin Meredith, senior Kira Goepferd, and junior Natalie Doman. That relay team took eighth place with a time of 2:02.89. Chard's split time was 28.45 seconds.
Chard was also a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay team, this time with Goepferd, and freshmen Alora Robbins and Halana Crispin. They also took eighth place with a time of 4:02.98.
