Canby boys golf sits tied for fifth place with Tualatin after latest golf match

PMG PHOTO: MILES VANCE - Canby's Sam Krauss Canby boys' golf team took fifth place in the third golf match of the year at Oswego Lake Golf Club on Monday, April 8. The team came in fifth place out of seven with a total score of 328.

Led by Sam Krauss who was just two strokes above par with a total score of 73, the Cougars edged Oregon City and Tualatin.

Krauss managed to make par through the first four holes, and sank a birdie on the fifth hole. However, a pair of bogeys on the sixth and ninth holes put him a stroke over after the front nine. On the back half Krauss made par on each hole except for the 14th, finally sinking his putt in four strokes on the par three. In the individual standings, Krauss sits at third with a net score of 148.

As a team, Canby is tied with Tualatin for 5th place with 10 points.

The top individual golfers of the day were Tualatin's Bryce Hatcher an even-par 71, followed in the top five by Lakeridge's Aaron Buck at 72, Lake Oswego's Jacob Brumfield and Krauss at 73, and LO's Michael Zhao at 74.

Canby's next best golfer was Tom O'Neil with a score of 83, followed by Dylan Frazier with 84, Bryce Gascho with 88, and Joel Johnson with 95. The team will next compete at the Tualatin Country Club, a par 72 course, on Monday, April 15 after the Herald goes to press.
