New Canby head football coach Jimmy Joyce will get his first chance to see the Cougars against another team this Friday.

Canby is hosting a jamboree against South Salem and Centennial. Tualatin is also participating, but will not play Canby since the two teams are both members of the Three Rivers League and will face off on Oct. 4.

"We want to see how we measure up," Joyce said. "We have an idea in our head, but until we see it on the field. It's also an evaluation tool for any position that's still up in the air."

Junior varsity teams play at 4:30 p.m. followed by varsity at 6.

The Cougars open the regular season next Friday, Sept. 6, at home against Lincoln.
