Sports Editor Derek Wiley talks volleyball, football, soccer, and cross country

Sports editor Derek Wiley had some good news to report during this week's episode of Canby Vibe Sports Talk, the companion podcast to the Canby Vibe.

The Canby High volleyball team is on something of a roll and looks to be in line to host a state tournament match for the first time in nine years. Wiley takes a look at just what the volleyball team has done over the past week and where it all might lead this post-season.

Also on tap were looks at the Canby High boys and girls soccer teams, both of which are seeing some late-season successes, as well as a reminder that next Wednesday, the Canby High cross country team will compete at its district championships on the campus of Clackamas Community College. This race is the determiner for state meet spots.

And finally, the Canby High football team has an interesting opportunity this Friday night when it hosts conference opponent Oregon City. Based on scores and record, this looks like one the Cougars have an opportunity in, something the staff discussed at length. In fact, the final two football games will be at home this season, so it will be interesting to see if the continued growth of the program can culminate in a win or two as the season finishes up.
