Chard and Hester lead Cougars past Lake Oswego Thursday in season opening dual

Canby's girls swim team opened the 2019-20 season Thursday with a 111-59 dual win over Lake Oswego.

Mairen Chard and Kylie Hester led the Cougars at the Canby Swim Center.

Chard won the 100-yard butterfly in 1 minute, 1.65 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:03.39.

Hester placed first in the 50 free in 26 seconds and the 100 free in 59.72.

Chard and Hester also swam on two of Canby's winning relays — the 200 medley with Erin Meredith and Kennedy Hester, and 400 free with Avery Keinonen and Alora Robbins.

Kennedy Hester, Keinonen, Robbins and Katie Ball also won the 200 free relay.

Robbins won the 500 free in 6:32.79 and Keinonen took first in the 200 IM in 2:22.12.

Lake Oswego's boys outscored Canby 116.5-53.5.

Jordan Spencer finished second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.15 and Jack Hayhurst placed second in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.27.

Connor DeRisio took second in the 50 free in 23.99.

The Cougars are back at the Canby Swim Center Thursday, Dec. 19 for a dual against Tigard.
