A trouncing of Tigard is followed by Tualatin blanking the Cougars, who are now 6-2 in league play

The Canby volleyball team opened the week with a win over Tigard, but closed with a loss to Tualatin.

Canby rolled to a 3-0 win over the Tigers on Tuesday, getting the kind of performance head coach Terri Jo Schlatter had hoped for.

"We had control of the match from the very get-go," Schlatter said. "And we had an opportunity to get playing time and experience for everyone and all of them stepped up to that challenge."

Schlatter said the Cougars suffered no let-downs in intensity during the match, something she said occurred the week before in the Oregon City match.

Daley McClellan led the offense with 26 kills and a .636 hitting percentage. She added four service aces and six digs. Atalie Leder dished out 43 assists and contributed six digs to the defensive effort. Shannon Miller added three kills and two service aces, Chloe Anna had five kills, and Gabi Grey pitched in eight digs.

"I was very pleased with our performance," Schlatter said. "It was a good match before going to Tualatin."

Unfortunately, the Cougars couldn't cope with Tualatin, falling by a 3-0 score Thursday night. The Cougars are currently 6-2 in league, in a tie with Tualatin and two games behind league-leader West Linn.

Canby gets back into action Monday with a road trip to St. Mary's, then heads to West Linn on Wednesday.
