Some solid performances on the track and in the field for Canby's track team during Wednesday dual meet

Week two of the shortened spring schedule saw Lake Oswego visit Canby Wednesday afternoon for a track and field dual meet.

The Lakers used their strength to grab wins on both the boys and girls sides – 95-45 for the boys, 115-21 for the girls.

Leading the way for Canby on the boys side were Kyle Sandner and Tommy O'Neil, who both were double winners on the afternoon. Sandner captured the 100 meters (11.10 seconds) and 200 meters (22.95), while O'Neil took home the blue ribbon in the 1,500 (4:18.67) and 3,000 (9:58.32).

Landon Hill led a one-two-three sweep of the 300 intermediate hurdles, clocking a time of 50.39. Natanael Gonzalez was second in the race at 50.85.

Colin Kennedy won the discus with a throw of 90-feet, 1-inch, then was second in the javelin at 98-3. Treyson Wakefield added a second place in the high jump (5-0) for the Cougar effort.

On the girls side, the 4x100 relay snagged a win. The team of Mallory Scott, Kathryn Frentress, Sydney Matlock and Ashley Peterson won with a time of 53.14.

Other higlhlights were Frentress getting a pair of seconds – 100 meters (12.72) and 200 meters (26.98). Clara Maldonado was second in the shot put at 24-5 and Catalina Slangan was second in the pole vault at 8-0.

Up next for the Cougars will be another home dual meet with Lakeridge on Wednesday, April 28.
