Both sides of meet go to Pacers, but Canby picks up some nice performances along the way on track and in field

A Wednesday visit from Lakeridge left the Canby track team on the short end of the point total in track and field action.

On the men's side, Lakeridge ran away to a 110-34 victory. For the women, Lakeridge took an 88-56 win.

Leading the way for the Canby women were Ashley Peterson, Clara Maldonado and Catlina Slangan, who all recorded wins. Peterson captured the 400 meters (1-minute, 3.35 seconds), Slangan won the pole vault at 8-feet, 6-inches, and Maldonado captured the shot put with a 25-6 effort. She was also second in the discus at 68-3.

Other highlights on the girl's side were Kathryn Frentress getting a pair of seconds (100 meters in 13.21, 200 meters in 26.97) and Kate Mayfield, who got second in the discus (65-0).

For the men, Kyle Sandner and Tommy O'Neil were double winners. Sandner took the 100 (11.37) and 200 (23.13), while O'Neil captured the 800 (2:03.87) and 1,500 (4:13.70).

Colin Kennedy got first in the discus (96-3) and second in the shot (34-8 ½); Joel Ibarra was second in the 3,000 (9:58.70), Maddax Clark won the high jump (5-6), Ben Soles took the pole vault (9-0) and Treyson Wakefield leaped to a first in the triple jump (38-0 ½) and second in the long jump (17-5).

The Cougars get back into action Wednesday with a dual meet at Oregon City.
