Gartrell's no-hitter, a late innings comeback win highlight a week that pushes Canby's league mark to 3-3

A no-hitter keyed a two-win week for the Canby baseball team.

The Cougars beat Tigard 4-0 Wednesday, then topped the Tigers again 4-3 Friday after opening the week with a Monday loss to Tualatin.

In Wednesday's win, Joey Gartrell spun the gem, striking out 10 batters in the process. He got a nice assist from Clayton Langdale, who added a two-run homer in the game.

Friday's tussle with Tigard was an extra-innings affair with Canby coming back from two runs down in the seventh inning to force extra innings, which Canby won in the ninth inning.

Kellan Oakes pitched three scoreless innings and had two hits at the plate, while Joe Brauckmiller delivered a double and added two scoreless innings on the mound. Theo Netter closed out the game, pitching a scoreless frame in the ninth to secure the win.

Canby now sits 3-3 in league play, 5-4 overall.

After Monday's game against Lakeridge, Canby will travel to Lakeridge Wednesday and finish the week Friday at Lake Oswego.
