Softball team gets rock-solid pitching performance from Abigail Loomis, timely hitting against Lakeridge.

Canby's third straight softball win, 5-2 over Lakeridge on Monday, has moved the Cougars into a tie for second place with a 4-4 league mark.

Canby got off to a fast start when Abigail Loomis singled in the first inning to bring two runs across. It was a fitting start to the game for Loomis, who would shine on the mound again with a complete-game pitching performance — allowing three hits, two runs and striking out 11.

"Abigail Loomis pitched another great game with 11 strikeouts," coach Tyler Brack said. "We are hitting the ball well and are riding a three-game winning streak against very tough league opponents."

Overall, Canby had eight hits in the game, including two apiece from Ella Kiehl and Ava Carroll.

After a non-league contest with Barlow on Wednesday, Canby (4-4 in league, 5-5 overall) will continue league play at Lake Oswego Friday.
